- A rapidly rotating metal rod is melted by a plasma arc, so that the molten metal is ejected from the rod by centrifugal force and collected as powder that has solidified in flight.
- Because the metal is melted without using a crucible, this method can produce extremely pure powders, even for highly reactive metal powders.
- The process results in high quality spherical powders with almost no satellites.
