Plasma Rotating Electrode ProcessHow Metal Powders and Foils Are Produced

  • Melting

A plasma arc is used to melt the end of a rapidly rotating rod of metal material inside a chamber. Centrifugal forces eject the molten metal from the rod, where it solidifies into spherical particles within the chamber.
Because the melting and solidification processes occur within an inert gas environment, they produce uniform metal balls that contain almost no impurities such as oxygen.

  • Sieving

Several stages of sieving are used to sort powder particles by size to adjust the product's particle size distribution based on the target application.

  • Inspecting

Powders are inspected to make sure they satisfy applicable standards.
